They can all be fitted into a small container, such as a tobacco tin, altoids tin or special survival tin. That will be hardly noticeable when slipped into a pocket. Make a habit of always having it with you. Experience has proven that each item earns its place

CHECKLIST OF SURVIVAL KIT ESSENTIAL ITEMS

  1. Fire starting

    Matches, preferably waterproof or regular strike-anywhere matches
    Magnifying Glass, can start a fire from direct sunshine
    Flint, magnesium rod with scrapper

  2. Source of light

    Candle, small glow stick, mini flashlight

  3. Sewing kit

    Several needles, Strong thread, buttons
    Can be used for repairing or making clothes in an emergency

  4. Fishing Kit

    Different hooks, few weights, include as much line as possible

  5. Compass

    Small button compass, Preferably a liquid-filled type

  6. Snare wire

    Preferably brass wire, 60-90cm
    Could solve many survival problems

  7. Wire Saw

    Stainless steel wire saw can be used to cut some trees

  8. Surgical blade

    A handle for a scalpel can be easily made from wood to aid in wielding the blade

  9. Medical Kit

    Assorted size plasters, preferably waterproof
    Alcohol Pad, prevent infection for cuts and scrapes
    Water purification tablets

  10. Condom

    This makes a good water carrier, holding about 1 liter of water (Depends on brand)

Pack spare space in the tin with cotton wool, which will keep the contents from rattling and can be used as a tinder. Wrap the container with a plastic tape to make it waterproof.
